NEW YORK. Wealthy Americans are spending lavishly on luxury goods for their dogs, according to the Second Annual American Express Platinum Luxury Survey. The survey, conducted this year with a random cross-section of 770 wealthy Americans, revealed that they spent an average of $12,831 on luxury dog products in the past year alone -- a large portion of their annual luxury spending.
